Developed under the codename Project Zero, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are a massive leap forward for the popular flagship smartphone family. As usual, the devices are brimming with high-end tech but this time around they have a mature enough design language to complement them.The looks of the two new Galaxy flagships are certainly an improvement Samsung’s previous efforts. With glass front and back encased in metal, the ultra-thin Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge look as premium as it gets.
The new phones pack in most of the features of the Galaxy S5, such as a dedicated heart rate monitor on the back and an infra-red blaster so you can use your phone as a sophisticated TV remote. However some of the key features include;Fast wireless charging – fastest in the industry, increased screen resolution – 577 pixels per inch – and the ability to go 20% brighter, A new 14 nanometre processor designed by Samsung which should be more energy efficient, Samsung Pay, a smart wallet service that allows the handsets to act as a credit or debit card when tapped against a shop’s NFC chip reader or used to transmit magnetic stripe data.The S6 is slightly thinner than the S6 Edge at 6.8mm and it’s also fractionally taller and wider.In terms of the rest of the specifications the only major change is that the S6 has a slightly smaller battery than the S6 Edge, at 2,550mAh. the size and resolution of the screen, the cameras, processor, RAM and storage options – remain the same.
Both the phones have had an impressive introduction in the market, Samsung is hoping the premium S6 Edge will help it win back market share from its biggest competitor Apple.
