Pocket App is proud to announce that we developed a new mobile app in support of The Sun newspaper’s Poppy Appeal. Available to download immediately on iPhone or Android devices, the My Poppy app is an innovative and interactive way to contribute to The Royal British Legion Remembrance fundraising campaigns.
My Poppy, commissioned by News International, on behalf of The Sun, enables users to donate via text message to the Royal British Legion’s campaign to support UK Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Once they have donated, users will receive an in-app digital poppy which they can share via social media or download to set as their mobile phone wallpaper. Their digital poppy will also be added to a virtual poppy field online, where they can see all of the other poppies and a running total of how many people have donated.
Robin Garton Creative Director of News International comments: “It’s great to be working in collaboration with an organisation with as much foresight as Pocket App, who we know work with and support many charities. It’s clear that the world is becoming more and more mobile-orientated and we are always trying to find innovative ways for the next generation to remember and show their support for our active as well as fallen heroes.”
Paul Swaddle, CEO Pocket App comments: “I was involved in the development of the first digital Poppy Appeal app way back in 2004, so it’s great to be partnering with News International again for such a fantastic cause. It’s all about helping people engage with this great charity in new and exciting ways. At Pocket App we pride ourselves on being more than just developers, we understand the creative element too and how to inspire and build collaborative communities.”
